I didn't actually catch the Emmys this year, except for a few video clips here and there, and they seemed a bit ho-hum, with reality TV hosts pandering to the audience and Josh Groban belting out the theme to "Love Boat". Nevertheless, here are my best and worst-dressed picks for the red carpet!
BEST:
"Weeds" star Mary Louise-Parker takes it on in cerulean blue, a color that does no wrong, ever.
Kate Walsh in a saucy "mermaid dress", stunning beadwork.
Auf Widersehen to bad fashion for Heidi Klum!
Deborah Messing, impeccably styled for the red carpet as usual, (thanks to Rachel Zoe, most likely).
Subtle, but those roped, '20s-style diamond necklaces and dark nail polish are killer touches on Rose Byrne.
America Ferrera dons a pretty, rouched black gown.
WORST:
Brooke Shields reinvents the '90s, in non-ironic fashion.
Julia Louise-Dreyfuss in peach prom attire with a vinyl bodice cutout.
Lauren Conrad in one of her own designs. Way too much fabric. Is she pregnant? Does she wish she were?
I hate to even bring this up, but Tina Fey's dress is wholly unflattering. For such a smokin' Writer/Producer/Comedienne these days, she should have one of those mermaid-esque or gauzy, floaty frocks on instead, methinks.
January Jones is beautiful, but why is she wearing a corset and lingerie? Not to mention, John Slattery look somewhat grim about this.
