Zine Exhibit in Los Angeles

Zines, or fanzines, are an alternative for artists to get their material out to the viewing public and typically considered as what was once an underground phenomenon. The emergence of blogs as a way to spark interest in a subject or topic of interest is further reinforced by the prior existence of zines. Despite the influence of the internet on building an audience or fan base for an artist, a zine's more that just a marketing tool per se, for both fan and composer.

Ooga Booga is opening an exhibition by zine publisher Nieves Library in Los Angeles. The exhibition opens on March 6th and runs from March 7th-April 3rd, featuring such artists as Mari Eastman and Ari Marcopoulos.
