Sample Sale Crazy in L.A.!

BUST Magazine is holding their 2008 Holiday Craftacular sale this month in L.A., New York, and London.

Some designers and consignment in attendance include Mucha Muchacha, Cut x Paste, Eleven Eleven, Classic Hardware, Sleep Pictures and Nous Avon:

Nichole Muchacha's lovely fused glass jewelry line...

Eleven Eleven's eclectic assortment of wallets, card holders and notebooks...

... and some great hewn metal by EDM Designs, available on Etsy. Am into this steampunk thing, very bullets and brains over brawn, per se.

Adorable Fails to Wreak Havoc in Valentinoland

Valentino: The Last Emperor is a documentary film by Vanity Fair special correspondent, Matt Tyrnauer, on the designer and his impending bow from the spotlight in the fashion world. Not to mention, Valentino's five pugs are his constant companion, wriggling every which way. And so freakin' cute! Clip from the film and preview below:

Red Carpet at the Emmys!

I didn't actually catch the Emmys this year, except for a few video clips here and there, and they seemed a bit ho-hum, with reality TV hosts pandering to the audience and Josh Groban belting out the theme to "Love Boat". Nevertheless, here are my best and worst-dressed picks for the red carpet!

BEST:
"Weeds" star Mary Louise-Parker takes it on in cerulean blue, a color that does no wrong, ever.

Kate Walsh in a saucy "mermaid dress", stunning beadwork.

Auf Widersehen to bad fashion for Heidi Klum!

Deborah Messing, impeccably styled for the red carpet as usual, (thanks to Rachel Zoe, most likely).

Subtle, but those roped, '20s-style diamond necklaces and dark nail polish are killer touches on Rose Byrne.

America Ferrera dons a pretty, rouched black gown.

WORST:
Brooke Shields reinvents the '90s, in non-ironic fashion.

Julia Louise-Dreyfuss in peach prom attire with a vinyl bodice cutout.

Lauren Conrad in one of her own designs. Way too much fabric. Is she pregnant? Does she wish she were?

I hate to even bring this up, but Tina Fey's dress is wholly unflattering. For such a smokin' Writer/Producer/Comedienne these days, she should have one of those mermaid-esque or gauzy, floaty frocks on instead, methinks.

January Jones is beautiful, but why is she wearing a corset and lingerie? Not to mention, John Slattery look somewhat grim about this.

Patti Smith Closes NY Fashion Week, Spring '09

Patti Smith played a show towards the end of NY Fashion Week hosted by Costume National.

This documentary film, "Patti Smith: Dream of Life", looks amazing. I wish I had checked it out while it was still in the theaters, because my Neflix queue is somewhat out of control at the moment.

Rachel Zoe Shuts It Down

"The Rachel Zoe Project" on Bravo is worth checking out, if anything for the famed stylist's designer vintage shopping binges.

Incidentally, before the show aired, just picked up a pair of "Rachel Zoe's picks" off of Piperlime and was totally enamored.

NY Fashion Week: Rodarte RTW '09

"J'adore Rodarte": Reminiscent of an ethereal punk waiting outside of a club in Hollywood with a creamsicle pop.

NY Fashion Week: Marc Jacobs RTW Spring '09

Off-beat Americana in a techni-color dream while on safari. Here are some of my favorites:

And BTW, is that model below a drag queen?!

According to this recent profile in The New Yorker on Marc Jacobs, he's an incessant smoker that regularly goes to the gym, an otherwise proper contradiction in terms.
