A new show on TLC, Toddlers and Tiaras, features the obsession of pageant stage moms to dress up their sweet and adorable little girls like dolls. This might be sweet and adorable in itself, except for that some of them are borderline obsessive about living vicariously through their childrens' constant song-and-tap dance for stardom. Not So Friendly Skies
Richard Tyler designed a snazzy line for Delta inspired by the '60s era of airline travel glamour. However, the merger of Northwest Airlines with Delta has its airline stewardesses in a row that the signature red dress featured in Tyler's line is not available over size 18.
Well, of course everyone would like to put that red dress on to work. Although it resembles a raincoat, and I am not a fan of shiny fabric for everyday wear.
Speaking of retro glamour, looking forward to episodes from the new season of Mad Men premiering August 16th!

Just a Word
My new favorite word is papiroflexia, which is the definition of origami in Spanish.
I stumbled upon this great little animated film,
so-titled and posted below, while contemplating a butterfly cape

Theater of War
I worked on the documentary film, Brothers at War, as an Assistant Editor a few years ago.
It's finally out in the theaters, with Gary Sinise and Norman Powell credited as Executive Producers. The director/filmmaker, Jake Rademacher, produced the film from an actor's perspective in the interest of better understanding what his brothers were going through as soldiers in Iraq.
The film has garnered a positive response, especially from families with loved ones in the military. The documentary process is an atypical method of immersing (or wallowing) in nostalgia, but what else are films for anyway, besides to immortalize the intangible? I have a cousin that was in Iraq, and I sent him a care package after I worked on this film. This is the trailer.
